Mid Wales Woodturners is a branch of the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain (AWGB).
Due to the situation with Coronavirus, all Mid Wales Meetings are cancelled until further notice
The club was founded in 1999 and now has around fifty members. We meet eleven times a year, usually (but not always) on the third Sunday of the month, at Carno Community Centre, SY17 5LH. There is plenty of free parking, but public transport is limited. See the Programme page for our meeting dates in 2020.
We have members of all ages - from 8 to 80 plus - and of all abilities, from complete beginners to respected experts. We are a friendly lot, and make new members and visitors very welcome.
Most meetings are demonstration days, where experienced professional woodturners demonstrate various aspects of woodturning. Members have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss their own interests with an expert professional. Most demonstrators bring examples of their work, some bring specialist tools and woodturning supplies for sale.
We also arrange some ‘Hands On’ meetings each year. A number of lathes are available for people to use and try out different tools & techniques. Experienced club members are on hand to give advice and guidance.
Visitors are always welcome. Please contact any Committee member if you want to come and see for yourself, or if you would like more information - or just turn up on the day to see what we have to offer.
